This spread is made from maple syrup and its smooth texture is similar to nut butter. It is creamy and delicious with a balance of sweet and salty. Spread it on waffles, pancakes, biscuits, and cornbread, or our favorite is on a warm piece of toast. There is nothing better! It is also a great alternative for those who are nut-free.
Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup Sunnymede Farms maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preparation
- Soften butter to room temperature. While the butter is softening, pour 1/2 cup Sunnymede Farms maple syrup in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring syrup to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until the syrup has reduced by a quarter. Be sure to watch the syrup to prevent it from boiling over! You know the syrup is ready when it has thickened and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from the heat and let cool completely, 20 to 25 minutes.
- Beat the butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute.
- Add the cooled maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Beat until fluffy and lighter in color, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Enjoy immediately and store in an air-tight container or mason jar in the fridge for up to a week. Or freeze for up to 1 month. This also makes the perfect small gift for the holidays.
