Our Story
Family-owned Sunnymede Farms is located in Hartland Four Corners, Vermont near the idyllic, small town of Woodstock. Nestled on over 600 acres of open rolling pastures, rich maple forests, and fertile soil, the farms are home to free-roaming chickens, goats, cattle, horses, and our donkey, Harvey.
We are proud to offer a limited and exclusive offering of farm-to-table products including 100% Pure Vermont Maple Syrup and registered Black Angus beef.
Our History
The farms were originally settled in 1789 by Marston Cabot, the town surveyor, who was offered his choice of land in place of payment for his services. Having a good eye for farmland, he chose the rich, fertile fields of what would eventually become Sunnymede Farms. Then in the early 1870s, the farms were bought on behalf of the village by the town clerk, A. B. Burke, who said when making the purchase, “I want as good a farm as there is in town and I want it near the village.”
Named after its sunny meadows grazed by livestock for centuries, the owners of Sunnymede seek to preserve the rich heritage and rural tradition of the farmers who inhabited the land centuries ago.
Our Team
There is no better steward of the land than the farmers. Our farms are managed by a team who have backgrounds rich in rural heritage and extensive experience in farming, logging, and sugaring. Working with the land and animals brings a sense of freedom and satisfaction unique to this type of occupation. Hard work and a deep sense of pride are brought to collecting and boiling sap, haying the fields, tending to the animals, and preserving the earth.
